Happy Fourth!

We (the adults or should I say the old people) of our family are enjoying a cookout at Pam's house. Hope you enjoyed a great day with family and friends. Looking forward to celebrating the ultimate freedom of being a child of God tomorrow with my AMRBC family.

West Virginia

I never cease to be amazed at what God can do when His people are obedient and answer the call to go and serve Him and His children. We had an awesome week in Milton, West Virginia. Here is the story of our week on mission with Him.This is the existing church building. As you can see from the date, God has been working in this church for a very long time. Many of the members have had many generations of their family worship and serve in this church family.The week before we arrived a group of folks from Alabama were already hard at work. This is what the site looked like the Sunday before they began work. Thanks to Janet, my new friend from Alabama for sharing her pictures with me!Wait until you see how God raised this church up from the slab in just two weeks!This is my roomie, Peggy checking her email after we arrived. You had to stand or sit in just the right spot to get a connection!This is what the church looked like when we arrived for worship on Saturday night.Our pastor, DJ, preached on Saturday night and Sunday morning. He is a awesome pastor. I am grateful for his passion for preaching the Word of God. He is doing an awesome series in Mark right now...it has been life changing and attitude adjusting for me!!The Susannah Missionary Baptist Church Choir. Man, these folks could sing. You could see their love and passion for the Lord as they lifted their praises to Him. Great time of worship and preaching on Sunday morning.
After church, we ate lunch at Sonic. All the ladies sat together so we could get our 2,000 words in. See Eric Glover if you need an explanation about that statement!

They did just as much talking as we did! :)These folks know how to host a party. I have never seen so much food in all of my life. This was the best thing I ate that night...homemade banana ice cream. Yummo!
During the week, I served on the kitchen crew. This is where we prepared all the meals...

May I add, no one was harmed in the process of my cooking! God is so good!

One of the best parts of the week was getting to spend time with some of the young families in our church. As you can see, we had lots of precious children with us. They had a ball looking for bugs, lizards, and such. They are getting ready to go on a hike in the picture. Amber, April, Laurel and Tammy, you are all great moms. It was a blessing to spend time with you and your families. We were also blessed to have some teenagers with us. This is Stephen and Alex (Vickie's son!) They did work hard too!
Jeffrey worked hard on the kitchen crew. He is a real grillmaster. Those pork chops were delicious!
Rachel icing a cake for dessert one night. Samantha worked hard in the kitchen too! Jennifer, Shannon and Vickie, I know raising teenagers is one tough job, but your children were awesome last week. I enjoyed getting to know them and watching them serve the Lord. Thank you for sharing them with us!

On Thursday night, the church fed us again. Did I mention these folks are great Baptists and know how to do a potluck supper. It was delicious! After supper we enjoyed a great time of worship. They sang The Anchor Holds...one of my favorite songs of all time.
After a great time of worship and sharing, DJ's dad, Johnnye, shared from the Word. He and his friend, Glenn, started the Central Alabma Christian Builders 20 years ago. It was a privilege to work with this great group of folks from Alabama!
The AMRBC group on Thursday night! I love all these folks. We had a great time serving the Lord together.
This is what thebuilding looked like on Thursday night. They continued to work on Friday through lunch. I had to leave to get back for a very special wedding, which I will share about soon.
The best way to sum up this week is to use the very words of God from Ephesians 3:20-21:
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Home!

I am home after an awesome week of missions in West Virginia. Can't wait to share all the great things God did while we were there! Going to Sterling's wedding tomorrow, so I will be back soon!

Mary Alice's Baptism

On Sunday, we traveled to Lexington for Mary Alice's baptism. Any day you get to spend time with your family is a great day!Look at this sweet angel sleeping peacefully on her big day!

Am I dead yet?

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

I am teaching a ladies' Bible study in West Virginia. This is a verse God has been dealing with me about over the past several months. I am slowly, slowly, slowly learning to die to self. I have to confess that most days I start back at square one in this fight. While preparing for this particular lesson, I found this. I am going to print it and tape it in every location I can find to keep it before my eyes. It is SO not about me, but I still have a lot of dying left to do.

When you are content with any food, any offering, any climate, any society, and any raiment, and any interruption by the will of God, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you are forgotten or neglected, or purposely set at naught and you don't sting and hurt with the insult of the oversight, but your heart is happy, being counted worthy to suffer for Christ, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend your self, but take it all in patient, loving silence, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder and irregularity, or any annoyance, when you stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus endured, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation, or to record your own good works or itch after commendations, when you can truly love to be unknown, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances. THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart, THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

ARE YOU DEAD YET??
